The vehicle set new standards in terms of roadholding and ride comfort. The large sedan went down in French history, as the Gestapo and later the partisans of the French Resistance liked to drive the car. Even today, the Citroën Traction is considered a symbol of freedom and peace, but due to its performance it often served as a getaway vehicle for gangster gangs, which made it a standard prop in relevant crime films and earned it the nickname "Gangster Citroën", which is still common today.
