In a complex production process, these foosball rods are made from steel tubes through many steps. Unlike solid rods or cheaper hollow rods, these rods maintain their straight shape. They can support loads of at least 45 kg and spring back to their original shape when bent. For focused gameplay, the Sportime Black Dragon Tournament Foosball Table Rods do not reflect light as strongly as high-gloss chrome rods. The rods are delivered with a lightly glossy industrial look. With each match, the rods polish in the bearings and become shinier. The dark rods provide a great color contrast to the playing field and the figures. The inner walls of the rods are made of 3.5 mm thick steel. The steel tubes are industrially alloyed multiple times and treated against corrosion. In testing laboratories, these rods withstand a 16-hour salt spray test. The foosball rods have a diameter of 15.8 mm, commonly referred to as 16 mm rods. Typically, foosball sliding bearings have a diameter of 16 mm, so the foosball rods are 0.2 to 0.3 mm thinner to ensure they run in the foosball table bearings with enough grip but minimal friction. The rods have 4 mm drilled holes for attaching the foosball figures. The holes are precisely drilled, spot-on, and parallel through the center of the rods, allowing the foosball figure screws to be easily guided through the rods, ensuring the figures stand perfectly side by side.
