The USS Enterprise CV-6 was the second ship of the Yorktown class and was commissioned in 1938 as the sixth aircraft carrier of the US Navy. During the Pacific War, it participated in 18 out of 22 major naval operations. It was heavily damaged 15 times but always returned to service, becoming a symbol of the Navy's determination to achieve victory in the Pacific. In 1947, the USS Enterprise, affectionately known as "Big E," was decommissioned and eventually scrapped from 1958 to 1960. To this day, it remains the most decorated ship in the history of the US Navy. The TAMIYA model kit depicts the famous aircraft carrier as it was commissioned towards the end of World War II, including upgraded anti-aircraft armament and aircraft types such as Hellcat, Corsair, Avenger, and Helldiver.
