The model is a replica of the D variant of the Corsair fighter aircraft from World War II. This fighter provided invaluable support to all ground units in the Philippines and Okinawa and served in Korea after the war. For the D variant, the wing sections were extended to allow for a total of eight rockets to be carried. Additionally, bombs and drop tanks were mounted under the wings.
