The Temple of Heaven, or Altar of Heaven, is a temple complex in Beijing where the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties prayed annually for a good harvest. It was built between 1406 and 1420 during the Ming dynasty under Emperor Yongle. The site was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998.
