We have a 5 cm long crack on the back of the backrest (along the glue line). What is the best way to close it?

try Tear-Aid or the multi-component set from Yachtikon. You can get everything from a fishing or boat specialist. The Intex, Bestway etc. All of them are useless in the long run.
