Deumavan Protective Ointment Lavender (and natural) is a product without additives, meaning it contains no emulsifiers, stabilizers, parabens, or other preservatives, and is also water-free. The intimate care products are made as ointments, which means they consist of water-free fats and oils, rather than creams. Creams, being mixtures of water and fat/oil, cannot be produced without the aforementioned emulsifiers, parabens, and other preservatives.
The alcohols found in many creams initially provide a pleasant, smooth skin feel, but in the long term can lead to increased skin dryness, which is the opposite of what is desired. Skin in this area does not require external water supply. However, potential water loss due to unnecessary alcohols should be avoided.
