Microdacyn wound care is a ready-to-use wound irrigation solution with activated (nascent) oxygen. It is made from ultra-pure water and small amounts of NaCl using Oculus Innovative Science's patented Microcyn technology.

Principle of action:
The ingredient hypochlorous acid (HOCl) in Microdacyn 60 wound care uses a physical defense mechanism against pathogens that is also utilized by the body to preserve the irrigation fluid. Foreign bodies are not chemically removed but destroyed by a purely natural physical process. The hypotonic Microdacyn 60 wound care solution ensures that more water flows into the cells to balance the osmotic gradient. Osmolysis (non-specific osmotic shock) occurs, causing the cells to burst due to the increasing internal pressure.

Mechanical effect of the sterile solution Microdacyn 60 wound care:
The wound irrigation solution facilitates the mechanical removal of microorganisms and cell breakage. Microorganisms are largely flushed away with Microdacyn 60 wound care, and other soluble components are removed. Microdacyn 60 wound care can also be left on the wound to soak. It also facilitates debridement, as pre-damaged cells, which occur in infected wounds, lyse more rapidly under the influence of Microdacyn 60 wound care.

Sterility and effect of the preservative:
The preservative in Microdacyn 60 wound care, hypochlorous acid (HOCl), has excellent antimicrobial properties, ensuring the sterility of the wound irrigation solution throughout the period of use. It can also effectively eliminate unpleasant odors that often occur in wounds in a short time.
