Rosemary is an evergreen shrub and an ancient medicinal and culinary plant native to the Mediterranean region, preferring calcareous, sunny locations. Depending on the site, rosemary develops different chemotypes, such as R. CT Cineol or R. CT Verbenon. In ancient times, rosemary was dedicated to Aphrodite and symbolized fidelity. It was a component of the famous Hungarian water, one of the oldest perfumes. Additionally, rosemary is an important ingredient in the Herbes de Provence seasoning blend and a significant raw material for perfumery, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals.
