Systane prolongs the tear film absorption time for a long time and reduces excessive evaporation of the tear film. Systane has a shelf life of 6 months after opening. It contains a unique composition of gel and moisturising components. As soon as these active ingredients contained in Systane come into contact with the natural tear fluid, a mucin-like protective film is formed, which is distributed over the surface of the eye when blinking.

By moisturising the surface of the eye, Systane provides quick and long-lasting relief from dryness, irritation, burning, stinging and the sensation of grit or foreign bodies. These complaints can be caused by environmental influences such as dust, smoke, ozone, UV rays, dry heat (heating/sauna), air conditioning, wind, draughts and cosmetics, or by a reduced blinking frequency caused by watching television for long periods or working at a computer screen. Systane thus combines the light dripping of a liquid with the protective and long-lasting effect of a gel on the eye. This ensures optimum wetting at all times. In the healthy environment created in this way, damaged surface cells can regenerate more easily.

The Systane protective film provides relief and comfort for hours. Contact lens wearers must remove the contact lenses from the eye before using Systane, as its effect can only develop directly on the cornea.
