What do ac and dc mean? I don't see any of these abbreviations on my hairdryer. I have a Babyliss 5336U.

In the context of electricity, AC means alternating current and DC means direct current. In the case of hair dryers, it is the motor that can be AC or, more rarely, DC. This is irrelevant for the diffuser.
