Ten battery chainsaws in the 18V and 36V class

The small class The most important insight first: battery-powered saws are now so powerful that no one should bother with petrol-powered saws in the home garden any more. Assuming that chainsaws are not used on a daily basis, the cordless saw makes it much easier to use because there are no longer any starting problems. In the meantime, you have to think more about the purpose of the saw before you buy it. In addition to the all-rounders, tree care saws such as our test units from Bosch and Einhell are now also asserting their position. As it turns out, the specialists are unbeatable in this category. Among the 18V all-rounders, the Ryob saw deservedly took the top spot. However, the lead is quite slim, which proves that the power density is high. Conversely, this also means that owners of Kärcher or AEG cordless machines can remain loyal to their brands with a clear conscience. The Large Class The situation is similar in the 36/40V class. The saws all work at a pleasingly high performance level. So you can confidently decide according to your personal preference. In this class, however, a new problem arises. The manufacturers recommend using large batteries to use the full potential of the machine. But they tend to weigh 1 kilo or more. This has an impact on the handling of the saws, as is particularly evident with Ryobi in the test field. The challenge for manufacturers is therefore to reduce weight. One possible solution comes from Scheppach. By using two 20V batteries, the placement of the power supply can be better varied and also saves the costs for a second battery series. Finally, there is one common feature across all voltage classes. For the actual saw technology, namely the guidebar and chain, all manufacturers use Oregon products, at least for replacement after wear. They are tried and tested and can be procured quickly and cheaply when needed.
