Everboom: UE's new speaker wants to go outside

Ultimate Ears is expanding its Boom family with four new speakers. The star of the ensemble: the outdoor specialist Everboom.
Logitech subsidiary Ultimate Ears has unveiled four new speakers. Three of these are new editions of existing speaker series. Starting with the "smallest brother" Wonderboom 4, the best-selling Boom 4 and the powerful Megaboom 4.
The big showstopper, however, was a new speaker: the Everboom. With this speaker, UE is presenting a speaker that really comes into its own outdoors. Both with its sound features and its appearance.

The oval speaker resembles last year's surprise guest Epicboom. Even in terms of dimensions: at around 25 centimetres long, 18 centimetres wide and 13 centimetres high, it is similar to its unofficial predecessor. But the weight is different. As the focus is on outdoor use and therefore mobility, the colourful speaker weighs just under one kilo. It also comes with a carabiner so it can be attached to the straps of rucksacks or anywhere else. So you can listen to music while hiking, for example.
Water, dust and air: no problem at all
UE has given its latest offspring IP67 certification. That means: waterproof. The Everboom can be submerged under water for a maximum of one metre for up to 30 minutes without being affected. The same applies to dust or sand: the close-meshed fabric in which the Everboom is wrapped is dust-proof.
UE also thinks about the environment when it comes to recycling: the battery, which plays music for up to 20 hours at a time, can be removed from the housing. If the Everboom gives up the ghost at some point, the screws on the underside can be loosened to open the battery compartment. However, UE emphasises that this is only a recycling function. The battery cannot simply be replaced with a new one.
Longer distances also have little effect on music enjoyment: UE says, for example, that the speaker can be up to 55 metres away from the player - i.e. the smartphone, for example - without any interruptions. The Everboom is also NFC-compatible. If you briefly hold your Android smartphone to the speaker, you are connected. This also makes it possible to switch between different players on the fly.
Stronger bass with boost button
UE promises "powerful mids and highs" as well as "deep bass and clear vocals". UE is particularly committed to the bass. The manufacturer has given the Everboom a so-called outdoor boost button. This is intended to provide more powerful bass and louder sound - should things get a little louder in nature or elsewhere outside.
As soon as the speaker is available, you will find the link in this article. UE is initially launching the Everboom in black and blue. The salmon and lilac colour variants will be released in spring. <p

I've been tinkering with digital networks ever since I found out how to activate both telephone channels on the ISDN card for greater bandwidth. As for the analogue variety, I've been doing that since I learned to talk. Though Winterthur is my adoptive home city, my heart still bleeds red and blue.
