Huawei P50: Huawei with Snapdragon to be released on 29 July?

Huawei CEO Richard Yu has finally confirmed the launch date of the Huawei P50. But what will the device run on: Kirin or Snapdragon?

The date «29 July» has been making its rounds through the rumour mill for quite some time. Reportedly, it’s the day on which Huawei will finally present the P50 series.

This is indeed true.

Huawei Mobile CEO Richard Yu confirmed the date on the Chinese social media network Weibo.

Richard Yu promises a «new mobile imaging technology» along with the new smartphone series. Does this mean an improved camera? Perhaps – Yu hasn’t provided any further information.

We can currently only speculate about the specs of the P50 series and its models. There are no credible leaks. What does seem to hold up is that there will be a Huawei P50 and a Huawei P50 Pro.

Citing Chinese news site MyDrivers.com, tech website GSMArena reports that the non-pro P50 will be shipped with a 4G LTE-enabled Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 and that the sensor is manufactured by Sony.

The design of the P50 is similar to that of the Honor 50. Honor is now an independent company partly owned by the Chinese government. However, hardware design has not yet been separated, which is why the Honor 50 can still be used to draw conclusions about the Huawei P50.
