This little stick saves my feet in summer
For a long time, I viewed blisters as unavoidable collateral damage when wearing summer shoes. Until I discovered the Compeed anti-blister stick. A love letter to my twist-up saviour.
Dearest Compeed anti-blister stick,
It took me a long time to recognise your potential. Yet you were there the whole time – unassuming, tucked somewhere between blister plasters and other unappealing foot accessories. And I ignored you. Thought I’d already tried everything. Thought that ballet flats, pumps and the like were bound to find a spot on my foot to rub raw sooner or later. That bare feet and summer shoes were a recipe for blisters.
I’ll admit it: when I finally gave you a chance a year ago, it wasn’t out of conviction. It was out of desperation. I’d taped up potential rub spots with pretty much every conceivable type of plaster. It never looked particularly nice and never worked particularly well either. So, with sore feet, I gathered my remaining slivers of hope and put you – a stick that applies an invisible protective balm to the skin, reducing friction – in my basket. Sounds unspectacular, but works spectacularly well. Suddenly, my foot felt as smooth as a freshly oiled hinge in my shoe.

Applied to key spots, you help me get through the day with ease. No rubbing, no blisters. I always carry you with me for emotional support – and just in case. You’re about the size of a lipstick, so you fit even in my smallest bag and are easy to apply on the go.
I know relationships change over time. The initial excitement fades, small flaws become visible. But one year on, I still have nothing to hold against you. In fact, I’ll probably only grow to appreciate you more and more with every summer.

Back then, I was surprised at how well you worked. Today, I’m above all surprised that I managed without you for so long. This summer, I’ve had blisters exactly once so far. And do you know when? That’s right – on the one day I forgot to apply you. If nothing else, one thing is clear to me now: I won’t leave the house in summer shoes without you again.
Thank you for always being someone I can rely on. Here’s to many more summers together!
