The Alphacool fan shroud optimizes airflow between the fan and the radiator's cooling fins to enhance cooling performance. Additionally, it decouples the fans, resulting in a significant reduction in noise levels.

Airflow Optimization: When the fan is mounted directly on the radiator, a dead spot forms beneath the fan hub. There is also minimal airflow through the cooling fins at the corners of the radiator that are not directly covered by the fan blades. By installing the fan shroud, the distance between the fan blades and the radiator is increased. This allows for the formation of an air cushion in this gap. The dead area beneath the fan hub is eliminated, and the corners of the radiator receive better airflow with cooling air. This is particularly noticeable with silent fans operating at low speeds, where cooling performance can be significantly improved.

Decoupling and Noise Reduction: The soft fan shrouds largely decouple the fans from the radiator frame. This minimizes vibration transfer, thereby reducing noise levels. The increased distance of the fans from the cooling fins also leads to less direct air turbulence at the edges of the fan and radiator fins, contributing to a quieter environment.
