In the high-end desktop segment (HEDT), AMD continues to focus on an increasing number of processor cores with its Threadripper processors. Thanks to the 7nm manufacturing process, AMD can fit double the number of Zen 3 cores on the same die size as previous models. In addition to the potential doubling of compute cores and memory channels, the Ryzen Threadripper 5000 processors ("Chagall Pro") offer an effective doubling of PCIe lanes to 128 with PCIe 4.0 standard.
