Optically, the ASRock TRX40 Creator is recognizable by its striking black and silver covers and the large chipset fan. For RGB components such as fans and LED strips, the TRX40 mainboard offers several RGB headers: two 3-pin headers for addressable RGB and two 4-pin headers for conventional RGB LEDs.

Other important features of the ASRock TRX40 Creator include a WiFi/BT module (Intel WiFi 6 AX200) and a 2.5Gbps LAN port (Realtek RTL8125AG), complemented by a Gigabit LAN port (Aquantia AQtion AQC107). For audio, the manufacturer relies on the Realtek ALC1220 and ALC4050H audio codecs, featuring a total of five 3.5mm jacks and an optical S/PDIF output at the I/O panel.

The mainboard includes a USB 3.2 port (USB 3.2 Gen 2x2) in the form of a USB type C socket, reaching a maximum data transfer rate of 20 Gbit/s. The I/O panel also features two additional USB 3.1 ports and two USB 3.0 ports with type A connectors. USB 3.1 or USB 3.2 Gen 2 reaches maximum speeds of 10 Gbit/s, while USB 3.0 or USB 3.2 Gen 1 reaches a maximum of 5 Gbit/s per port.

Internally, the mainboard offers a USB 3.1 type C connector (one header) for modern PC cases, along with four USB 3.0 ports (two headers) and two USB 2.0 ports (one header).

For plug-in and expansion cards, the ATX mainboard provides four PCIe x16 slots in the 4.0 standard. Eight SATA 6G ports (including RAID support) are available for connecting data media such as SSDs and hard drives. The four M.2 slots are directly connected to the CPU with four PCI Express 4.0 lanes and support the advanced NVM Express protocol, optimized for highly parallel disk access of modern PCIe SSDs. One M.2 slot is already occupied by the WiFi/Bluetooth module.

The ASRock TRX40 Creator offers a total of five 4-pin PWM fan connectors on the motherboard. For power supply, there are one 24-pin, one 6-pin, and two 8-pin ATX connectors on the mainboard.
