The CL5808 is a control unit housed in a retractable dual-rail slideaway enclosure with an LCD screen, allowing multiple computers to be controlled from two PS/2 or USB KVM consoles. An additional console port is located on the back of the device to optionally control the LCD KVM switch from an external console.

The 19-inch LCD monitor with LED backlighting and the keyboard module with touchpad of the CL5808 can be pulled out independently from the rack. To create more space in the data center, the keyboard module with touchpad can be pushed in while the slim LCD screen remains unfolded and flat against the rack for monitoring the computers—allowing for easy observation of computer activity. Quickly and conveniently switch between computers using the station and port selection buttons, which are clearly arranged on the keyboard module. Even with the keyboard module folded in, you can still switch between connected computers using the Previous/Next Port buttons located on the monitor module.

The CL5808 supports both PS/2 and USB keyboards and mice from the connected computers. Additionally, the computers can access the USB peripherals connected to the CL5808. A single CL5808 can control up to 8 computers. Up to 31 additional compatible KVM switches can be daisy-chained with the switch to manage up to 256 computers from a single console (keyboard, mouse, and monitor).
