Audeze MM-520 is an open planar magnetic studio headphone designed for professional mixing and mastering. The headphones were developed in collaboration with 18-time Grammy-winning mixing engineer Manny Marroquin. The new SLAM™ (Symmetric Linear Acoustic Modulator) technology optimizes air pressure inside the ear cup, enhancing bass impact and spatial imaging while preserving the neutrality of mid frequencies. The 90 mm planar magnetic drivers with Ultra-Thin Uniforce™ membranes and Fazor™ phase management deliver accurate sound with low distortion.

SLAM™ technology

The Symmetric Linear Acoustic Modulator technology manages air pressure inside the earcup. Bass reproduction gains enhanced impact, and spatial imaging sharpens without compromising midrange neutrality. This helps mixes translate consistently across various playback devices.

Planar magnetic drivers

The 90 mm planar magnetic drivers utilize Fluxor™ magnetic construction and Neodymium N50 magnets. The Ultra-Thin Uniforce™ diaphragm and Fazor™ phase management keep distortion below 0.1% at 100 dB SPL (1 kHz). The frequency response is 5 Hz – 50 kHz.

Compatible with multiple sources

With an 18-ohm impedance and 102 dB/1 mW sensitivity, the headphones can be used with mixing consoles, audio interfaces, and portable computers. They perform well both in the studio and outside. The recommended minimum power is 100 mW, with a maximum power handling of 5 W RMS.

Comfort

The ear cushions covered with memory foam support long mixing sessions. Magnetic attachment facilitates the swapping of ear pads. The headphones weigh 555 g.
