Galvanic network isolation for medical electrical devices

- Simply plug in, no installation required
- No keystone module needed
- Compact, fits anywhere
- Protection against unpredictable currents in the patient environment
- No permanently mounted cables - easy replacement
- Long-term availability for at least 10 years
- Durable: 1 failure in 21,000,000 hours

Network isolators enable galvanic network isolation for medical electrical devices and systems according to DIN EN 60601-1. The galvanic network isolators are passive electronic components without their own power supply. They behave completely transparently in the data network, so the installation of drivers or additional software is not necessary.

The MI 1005 has been tested under stress conditions and guarantees up to 10 kV DC (10 seconds) insulation strength and 5 kV AC (60 seconds). Additionally, it easily meets 8 kV contact discharge and 16 kV air discharge.

Functions and benefits of the network isolator:

- Isolation up to 5 kV AC, under stress conditions up to 10 kV DC (10 seconds)
- Compliance with the legal requirement of 4 kV according to 60601-1
- Additional suppression of temporary overvoltages on the signal lines
- Excellent Ethernet performance, 1 dB loss
- Minimal insertion loss, no resistors or capacitors, nearly lossless – like a 1 m network cable
- UL production monitoring for consistent quality
- No limitation on connection cable length up to 100 m
- Compatible with all Cat5 / Cat6 patch cables
- 24/7 reliable and maintenance-free continuous operation
- ESD resistance according to EN 61000-4-2 with +/- 16 kV.
