The ALTEA-718A is an active subwoofer system designed to extend the bass response of the ALTEA full-range speakers. At the heart of the system is a DAS 18FW4 bass speaker. This speaker features a FEM-optimized, highly efficient design and an extended 3-inch voice coil for long excursions. Cooling is ensured by the ventilated pole piece of the 18FW4 and the numerous openings in the rear of the speaker, which minimize performance compression and guarantee high acoustic performance over extended periods.
The DAS 18FW4 speaker is powered by a state-of-the-art 1200 Wpeak Class D amplifier.
On the back, there is a balanced input connection and stereo "Loop-Thru" output connections for signal transmission to ALTEA satellite systems. Thanks to the digital presets accessible via a DAScontrol™ interface on the rear of the enclosure, setting up a combination system with ALTEA full-range systems is very straightforward.
The ALTEA-718 is the passive version for use with external amplification and external DSP.
