However, continuous product development is part of the ELAC philosophy. For the Debut B6.2, ELAC has set the bar higher for bookshelf speakers than ever before. The new silk dome tweeter features a highly flexible fabric surround and offers an extended frequency range up to 35,000 Hz for even more natural high-frequency reproduction. The waveguide enhances directivity and eliminates diffraction effects that are unavoidable in traditional rectangular enclosures. The revised shape of the aramid fiber-reinforced cone exhibits greater stiffness and excellent damping properties, far superior to those of polypropylene or paper drivers. The increased strength allows for greater design flexibility to achieve a smooth, extended frequency response. The sturdy MDF cabinets with a vinyl finish provide higher rigidity and strength thanks to internal bracing, significantly reducing cabinet vibrations and unwanted tonal coloration. By placing the bass reflex ports on the front of both the bookshelf and center speakers, they can be positioned in bookshelves or mounted on the wall without compromising bass performance.
