The TU104 graphics chip of the RTX 2080 Super is based on the Turing architecture, manufactured using a 12 nm FinFET process, and is responsible for the speed boost over the 10 series alongside the GDDR6 graphics memory. The ray tracing technology used ensures particularly realistic lighting and shadow effects, which is also the reason for the name change to GeForce RTX. In this Super variant, the base clock has been increased compared to its predecessor, and the number of shader units (CUDA cores) has been raised from 2,944 to 3,072, while the number of ray tracing cores has increased from 46 to 48.
