The reading distance and scan field of the Eclipse 5145 are significantly higher than those of a CCD scanner, thanks to its modern laser engine. It reads very aggressively due to its high scan rate and can accurately read high-resolution or very small barcodes without errors. Therefore, it is suitable not only for use at the checkout but also for jewelry stores or for scanning tiny electronic components or mechanical elements. Its design and compact housing allow it to be used in harsh environments: it can withstand repeated drops from heights of up to 1.5 meters onto concrete without damage. Additionally, its housing is sealed against the effects of air pollution, such as dust. The operating temperature of the Eclipse 5145 ranges from 0°C to 40°C, making it ideal for use throughout the entire cold chain in food logistics. Weighing only 97 grams, it is one of the lightweight handheld scanners, greatly facilitating daily work from an ergonomic perspective. With the optionally available CodeGate function, the scanner temporarily stores the scanned data. Only when the user presses the CodeGate button are the data released and transmitted to the PC. The button is ergonomically located on the top of the housing and is operated with the thumb. The CodeGate function is particularly suitable for reading small barcodes or for menu scanning and document capture.
