Product details

The HP 8/24 SAN Switch is suitable for small and medium-sized businesses as well as large enterprises, as it can be used as a standalone core switch or as a more cost-effective edge switch in large, multi-layer core-to-edge storage networks. The 8/24 SAN switches offer an unprecedented level of investment protection. Auto-sensing ports that support backward compatibility with devices operating at 1, 2, 4, and 8 Gbit/s significantly reduce the complexity and costs of implementation while also ensuring compatibility with installed devices. Companies that do not require 8 Gbit/s interfaces can equip the new switches with 4 Gbit/s SFPs and still have the option to easily upgrade to 8 Gbit/s SFPs in the future. The 8/24 SAN Switch with 24 active ports can be implemented as a full-fabric switch or in access gateway mode, providing connections to any SAN (the default mode setting is a switch). Standards for NPIV switches are used in access gateway mode to represent Fibre Channel connections for SAN fabrics as logical devices.
