The TU102-300 graphics chip of the RTX 2080 Ti is based on the Turing architecture, manufactured using a 12nm FinFET process, and is responsible for the speed boost over the 10 series, alongside the GDDR6 graphics memory. The ray tracing technology used ensures particularly realistic lighting and shadow effects, which is also the reason for the name change to GeForce RTX.
