Coffee Lake is the codename for the eighth generation of Core CPUs, which succeed Kaby Lake and Skylake while sharing the LGA 1151 socket with their predecessors. Due to various optimizations, however, the Coffee Lake CPUs are not compatible with older chipsets and require LGA 1151 motherboards with 300-series chipsets. The Intel Core i7 processors from the Coffee Lake generation feature six CPU cores with Hyper-Threading, high clock speeds, and Turbo Boost capabilities—all while maintaining a low TDP of just 35 watts. The "T" designation at the end has long indicated particularly energy-efficient models at Intel, so the Thermal Design Power (TDP) for this model is only 35 watts, compared to 65 watts for the regular models and even 95 watts for the K models.
