The new PCIe (PCI Express) SSDs are able to take advantage of the significantly increased speeds of other components (CPU, memory, etc.) due to their more direct connection to the computer architecture via the PCI bus, compared to SATA. The theoretical speed is 32 Gb/s.

In everyday use for typical PC users, the performance is about twice as fast as that of SATA III SSDs. Under optimized usage conditions, such as reading or writing individual large files, it can be even 4 to 5 times faster.
