The Kingston IronKey Vault Privacy 50 series consists of high-quality USB flash drives that provide enterprise-grade security with FIPS 197-certified AES 256-bit hardware encryption in XTS mode, including
BadUSB protections using digitally signed firmware and against brute-force password attacks. The VP50 series is also TAA compliant. Because it is encrypted storage under the physical control of the user, the VP50 Series provides much better data protection than the Internet or cloud services.
Vault Privacy 50 supports the multi-password option (admin, user and one-time restore) with complex or passphrase modes. This makes it easier to recover access to data if one of the passwords is forgotten. With the traditional complex mode, passwords of 6 to 16 characters are allowed using 3 of 4 character sets. The new passphrase mode allows a numeric PIN, a phrase, a list of words or even texts from 10 to 64 characters long. The administrator can enable a user and one-time recovery password or reset the user password to restore data access. To facilitate password entry, the "eye" icon can be enabled so that the password entered is displayed, which ensures fewer typing errors and thus fewer failed login attempts. Brute force attack protection locks user or one-time recovery passwords after 10 invalid passwords entered consecutively and crypto-deletes the USB stick after 10 consecutive incorrect entries.
To protect against potential malware on untrusted systems, both the administrator and the user can set up write-protect mode to make the drive read-only. In addition, the integrated virtual keyboard protects passwords from keyloggers or screen loggers.
The FIPS 197-certified and TAA-compliant USB drives in this VP50Series can be customized by enterprises for integration with standard endpoint management software with a product ID (PID) and configured to meet enterprise IT and cybersecurity requirements using Kingston's Customization Program.
