Mobotix MxSplitProtect
Mounting kitProduct details
MxSplitProtect enables weatherproof, surge-protected connections for up to two IP/PoE devices using just one network cable to the supplying PoE switch. In addition to its use in new installations, existing video systems can also be cost-effectively expanded, for example, by adding a second IP camera or a PoE infrared illuminator to an IP camera installed on a mast. Instead of having to lay another Ethernet cable from the PoE switch in the control cabinet to the mast, MxSplitProtect can be used as a simpler and more cost-effective solution.
To connect a MOBOTIX camera with an MxIRLight infrared illuminator, an MxSwitch is installed in the control cabinet. This is powered by a 48V power supply (minimum 2A) and feeds the voltage required for the camera and IR lighting through separate wires in the installation cable as a special function of the MOBOTIX switch, making it available at the two MxSplitProtect ports (left: data and power for the camera, right: power only for the IR light). A standard PoE switch is not suitable for this purpose.
Note:
MxSplitProtect protects against surges up to 4 kV on the network cable, but not against direct lightning strikes! To minimize the risk of damage, a surge protection plan is typically created and implemented by a professional.
