RAM technology in maximum capacity:

• Maximum possible memory configuration (with 2 CPUs, each with 8 slots):

• RDIMM 2Rank: 256GB RAM (2 x 8 x 16GB RDIMM)
• RDIMM 4Rank: 512GB RAM (2 x 8 x 32GB RDIMM)
• LRDIMM: 1TB RAM (2 x 8 x 64GB LRDIMM)

ECC DIMM, Registered DIMM, and Load Reduced LRDIMM memory modules must not be mixed. Therefore, when upgrading, you should know what memory is already present or completely upgrade to RDIMM memory.

Principles of memory configuration:

• There are 4 memory channels per CPU, each with 2 memory slots.
• ECC DIMM, Registered DIMM, and Load Reduced LRDIMM memory modules must not be mixed.
• Memory slots without a processor present must not be populated.
• Memory configuration for good system performance: Distribute the memory evenly across the memory slots and evenly across the CPUs. If more than one CPU is present, the memory should be populated identically (mirrored to the other CPU) per CPU.
