• Maximum possible memory configuration (with 2 CPUs, each with 12 slots):
• UDIMM ECC: 128GB RAM (2 x 8 x 8GB ECC UDIMM)
• RDIMM 2Rank: 384GB RAM (2 x 12 x 16GB RDIMM)
• RDIMM 4Rank: 512GB RAM (2 x 8 x 32GB RDIMM)
• LRDIMM: 1.5TB RAM (2 x 12 x 64GB LRDIMM)

ECC DIMMs, Registered DIMMs, and Load Reduced LRDIMM memory modules must not be mixed. Therefore, when upgrading, you should know which memory is already present or upgrade completely to RDIMM memory.

Principles of memory configuration:

• There are 4 memory channels per CPU, each with 2 memory slots.
• When using ECC UDIMM or 4Rank (4Rx..) RDIMM memory, only 2 out of 3 memory slots per memory channel can be populated.
• Memory slots without a processor present must not be populated.

Memory configuration for good system performance:

• Distribute the memory evenly across the memory slots and evenly across the CPUs.
• If more than one CPU is present, the memory should be configured identically (mirrored to the other CPU) per CPU.
