Yes, that's how I use it and it works very well. But you have to unscrew the fans from the Arctic and then refit them on the outside of the housing. Then the dust filter no longer goes on, but the front panel of the 4000d does.

LGA 1700 is supported. You can also get super nice, thick bacplates for 5€, e.g. on eBay for 5.9€ including shipping.
I can also recommend a Thermalright Intel LGA1700 anti-bend buckle. With this CPU is printed evenly
(not only in 2 places like the original bracket) which improves mounting and heat dissipation.
I built it into a BeQuiet Silent Base 601, which fits extremely well in the front. I can recommend this tower size.

I can't say, I only ordered the part for a friend.
I bought one 2 weeks ago and it was REV4, but of course it is possible that older ones are still available, depending on the stock.
I have a rog strix x570-F ATX AM4 with a 3700x and had no issue whatsoever in mounting this cooler. The only trick is to hold the back plate in place with some scotch tape when fixing the pump. Go look at GamerNexus video for review and details.
