I would like to operate my private PC with 2 monitors, wireless mouse and keyboard simultaneously with my business laptop (HP). According to the reviews, this KVM switch is well suited for this. Do I now also need a docking station for the laptop?

No, provided you have an HDMI and a display port (two screens ==> two cables) and a USB port available on your business laptop. Many new devices still have a maximum of one DP mini, in which case a docking is required.

How do you connect the keyboard mouse to the desktop/laptop? I want to use this to switch my dual monitors from my desktop to my laptop. I will also have to acquire a Docking station for my laptop. But, I do not understand how the laptop and desktop connect to the Aten so it understands that it should use the keyboard and mouse from the Aten. I hope I am clear enough..

i dont know if i understand correctly but i believe you want to know where to plug in the mouse and keyboard, which would be in the dockingstation or directly to the pc, you do not have to connect them to the aten switch.
