Yes, you can use a Kingston NV3 M.2 2280, it is compatible with your HP 850 G4. The NV3 supports PCIe 4.0 NVMe, is backwards compatible with PCIe 3.0 interfaces like in your laptop and has the same M.2 2280 format (22x80 mm). Your current NV2 works over PCIe 3.0, the NV3 fits physically and protocol-wise as well. Make sure that your laptop has a free M.2 slot with M-Key, which is the case with most HP EliteBook 850 G4.

According to our information, the idle temperature of this product is normally lower. A temperature of 60 °C in idle mode is rather high and could indicate insufficient cooling or poor air circulation in the system. We recommend checking the cooling.

Helpful answer
The Kingston NV3 SSD is not directly compatible with the Asus Z97-K motherboard as it is an M.2 NVMe SSD with PCIe 4.0 interface. However, the Asus Z97-K motherboard does not natively support M.2 NVMe SSDs as it is based on the Z97 chipset, which does not natively support M.2 NVMe. However, it might be possible to use an M.2 NVMe SSD if the motherboard has an M.2 slot and BIOS support is available, but the speed would be limited to PCIe 2.0 x2.

For the Kingston NV3 SSD with product ID SNV3S/1000G, the maximum random 4K read/write values are not specified in the available sources. The sources only list the sequential read and write speeds, but no specific values for random 4K reads and writes.

Here, the NV3 1TB runs as a system hard drive and gets around 40-50 degrees in normal operation. But the board also has its own heat sink for the M2 slots. So temperatures above 80 degrees are definitely not normal and can also damage the memory.
