The Lenovo ThinkPad Thunderbolt 4 Workstation Dock (40B00300EU) is generally compatible with various Lenovo laptops and workstations, including those with Thunderbolt 3 and 4, USB 4, and USB-C ports. For specific compatibility with the Lenovo ThinkBook 16 Gen 7 (Windows 11 Pro), here are some important points: - The docking station supports Windows operating systems and is designed to work with laptops with Thunderbolt 4 ports. - The Lenovo ThinkBook 16 Gen 7 should have a compatible USB-C or Thunderbolt 4 port to utilise the full functionality of the docking station. - It is advisable to check the specific technical specifications of the ThinkBook 16 Gen 7 to ensure that it has the necessary ports and hardware support for the docking station. As a rule, the docking station should work without any problems with the Lenovo ThinkBook 16 Gen 7 (Windows 11 Pro), provided that all requirements are met.

The docking station's power delivery (PD) did not work properly for me either, so I sent it back. One possible explanation would be. The docking station does not deliver enough power via the Thunderbolt 4 connection; according to the specification, Thunderbolt 4 delivers "less than 100W". This is in contrast to USB-C, which can deliver up to 100W with the PD substandard. Presumably the 230W laptop does not support USB-C, but only TB4, or the laptop has a defect. The device with 170W (peak power) can cope with less than 100W and charges.

Since you have an HP notebook, I would recommend this identical Lenovo Dock TB4: Lenovo ThinkPad Universal Thunderbolt 4 Dock (1 x HDMI, 2 x DisplayPort, 135 W, Thunderbolt, USB A) This version comes with the correct cable (USB-C/TB4). 1. powering on the HP notebook via the docking station may not be supported. 2. you can change this in the power settings under Windows. (Behaviour when closing) 3. there is a docking manager from Lenovo for the docking station: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht037099#dm You are also welcome to ask our customer service for advice :) https://helpcenter.digitec.ch/hc/de/requests/new
