The speed is relatively close to the maximum of 10 gbit/s. For me, the connection to the Internet, the server or the web browser is usually the limiting factor. Speedtest.net shows between 5-8 gbit/s. The device does get warm, but not excessively so. I would say under 35 degrees. But perhaps there are now more economical or cheaper alternatives

The power consumption of the device is in the range of around 9 to 10 watts under full load. This results from the power consumption of the Aquantia AQC107 chip, which consumes around 6 watts in 10 gigabit mode, plus around 2.2 to 3 watts for other components and voltage regulators, so that the total consumption does not exceed 10 watts. The device also supports the IEEE 802.3az energy-saving standard, which reduces power consumption when idle or under low utilisation.

I don’t think so. The compatibility of thunderbolt/usb is one directional: You can use a usb (and of course a thunderbolt) device with a thunderbolt interface of a computer but not v.v. a thunderbolt device with a computer’s usb interface. I don’t know any device which is capable of usb and(!) thunderbolt protocol at one interface connector. The OWC adapter is a Thunderbolt 3 device at one end (and an Ethernet device at the other end).
