Questions about Satechi USB-C Stand & Hub für Mac Mini

I bought the SATECHI USB-C Stand & Hub for my Mac Mini M1. I installed the Samsung 860 EVO M.2 SSD recommended by Satechi. Unfortunately, I cannot use the SSD! The SSD is visible in Disk Utility but cannot be activated. SSD always disappears for a short time in the overview. When I try to activate the SSD, I always get an error message. Does anyone know this problem? If so, is there a solution? (I suspect that the supply voltage to the hub with the SSD is too low).

Unfortunately, our supplier does not yet have this product in their catalogue. We cannot add it at the moment. Perhaps it will be possible in the future.

Yes, it fits and works perfectly. You have to pay attention to the colour so that it matches the MacMini.

Hello StAlt61 What do you mean by recognise? Do the ports not work when you have connected the hub via USB-C?

I would like to run a Mac MINI M2 Pro with it... What kind of internal SSD can you recommend that is approx. 2TB in size and also fits in here... Can anyone say anything else about the Wifi? I have read that certain people have problems when these devices are placed on top of each other...

I bought the Satechi Hub with SSD bay and the Lexar NM790 with 2 TB and plugged it in. Unfortunately, my MiniMac M2Pro does not recognise the Lexar SSD. I also can't find it in the memory to format it if necessary. Question: is the NM 790 not compatible for some reason? What else could be wrong?

The Lexar SSD is an NVMe. According to the description on the hub: "Internal SSD enclosure fits M.2 SATA SSD drives only, does not work with NVMe. "

According to the Satechi website, this docking station is not compatible with the Mac Mini 2018, but according to Digitec it is. Why?

As Pattyfit said, it should be. Bear in mind that this kit isn't compatible with NVME SSDs (the fastest, in other words) but it does the job largely anyway as a second hard drive, you'll still get 500MBps. Otherwise, it's USB-C, so it's all good.

Can someone please tell me if this SSD: https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/crucial-p3-4000-gb-m2-2280-ssd-21575422 is compatible with the hub. I don't quite understand SSDs and apparently there are problems with certain storage media not being supported. Thank you for your help.

So, I bought the above model to go with my MacMini 2021 model. The thing can take an SSD. And it's actually clear in the product description: "Compatible with 2020 M1 Mac Mini & 2018 Mac Mini. Not available in space grey. Does not support 2017 & earlier Mac Mini models."

Is this hub really compatible with the Mac Mini 2018? According to the manufacturer's website, it is not. There, the specifications only describe compatibility with the Mac Mini 2020 (M1). The 2018s are explicitly excluded.
