StarTech USB-C to SATA adapter
StarTech USB-C to SATA adapter
I think it should, I mean the SATA interface and power consumption are the same, right?
No, that is not possible with this product. Only 2.5" HDDs are supported. An additional power supply is not available.
I also tested briefly with a 4TB SSD. No problems
Yes, simply the speed will be limited to that of the cable. "USB 3.1 Gen 2 offers higher bandwidth and speed with data transfer rates of up to 10 Gbps - twice the speed of USB 3.0 (USB 3.1 Gen 1). This allows you to use the high performance of the latest SSDs and hard drives."
I think if you orgenise the power for the drive separately then it might work. But there are simpler solutions with power supply linklusive like the Lindy USB 3.1/3.0 - SATA 3.0 drive adapter supports SATA data transfer rates up to 6Gbit/s (1m).
In general, all USB connections are downward compatible. This means that with the necessary adapter it will work, but you will lose speed. So I can answer all questions with yes.
