If you plug this module into your switch, you do not necessarily need the same module on the receiving device. You can also connect a 10G port there directly with a suitable RJ45 cable, as the module is an SFP+ to copper (RJ45) adapter and communicates via standard Ethernet cables. The module converts the SFP+ signal into a copper Ethernet signal that can be connected directly to a normal 10G RJ45 port.

The adapter supports 10 Gigabit connections via copper cable up to 100 metres and is compatible with SFP+ interfaces. This means that it also works with devices that support a full 10 Gbit/s via SFP+. Regarding the Dream 7, there are reports that users are using the SFP-to-RJ45 transceiver with a Cat8 cable on their modem, indicating compatibility. However, no official confirmation has been documented specifically for the Dream 7 with full 10 Gbps speed. To summarise: The adapter is technically designed for 10 Gbps and should work with the Dream 7 if it supports SFP+ at 10 Gbps. However, there is no 100 per cent guarantee for full 10 Gbit/s with the Dream 7, as there is no explicit manufacturer's specification.

Zyxel recommends using their own branded transceivers to ensure proper functionality. Third-party modules, like the Ubiquiti transceiver, may not be fully compatible with Zyxel switches. Given that your devices aren't receiving a signal and the switch's LED doesn't light up when the transceiver is inserted, it's possible that the Ubiquiti transceiver isn't compatible with the Zyxel XMG-105HP.

Coming from what end on init7? Native they're fibre, not RJ-45 like this one. So for Fiber 7, no. If you're using Hybrid 7, with (e.g.) a Nokia bridge (they have that option), then yes, this works. But I wonder if there's some misunderstanding. This plugs into a device, so what device would you plug it into?
