It is the possibility to distinguish whether the HD works with SMR or CMR storage technology.

Yes, the Western Digital Red Plus 12 TB hard drive (WD120EFBX) has a standard SATA III (SATA 6Gb/s) connector that you can easily connect to your motherboard. This port is compatible with your ASUS TUF Gaming X670E-Plus Wifi motherboard.
In my case, they were neatly sealed in ESD bags with silicate bags and packed in cardboard boxes that were padded all around with foam triangles about 3 cm high.
So they were already very well protected
Thank you very much, it's good to know that digitec is serious about secure shipping for these disks. Years ago, when I bought 3 WD REDs from another Swiss online store, they were shipped in a cardboard box without the slightest bit of padding. Two of them were broken after a few hours of use, but after the warranty had expired.
Hello, yes, it should fit. In principle you can (since you have Raid 1) simply pull out 1 disc and put the new one in. Then you should see something about repair storage pool somewhere in the NAS storage manager. If you do this, the raid will be restored. This can take a few hours. It is best to simply wait about 24 hours. The new one will still be displayed with the capacity of the old one, don't get confused.
After the raid has been restored, do the same with the 2nd hard drive. Finally, expand the storage pool to 12Tb (also in the storage manager).
Hi Dario
Basically: You can! In more detail: If you need the Red as your "normal" storage, i.e. where you store the operating system, your programmes, etc., it is certainly not optimal (keyword SSD). But if you want to use it as a mass storage device for backups, photos or other things, go ahead. Normally, however, it would be more expensive than other hard drives designed for the desktop, as it uses extra technologies for smooth NAS operation. For example, it has IntelliPower RPM to provide balanced, low-power operation. As a result, it sometimes switches off and then takes a little longer to call up the data, which is not at all noticeable in NAS/raid operation, but it is noticeable on a normal PC.
But as I said, if it's so cheap and you only use it for large storage, go for it!
