Works perfectly with SSD M.2 SATA. Practical access without extra power supply (USB 3). Good alternative to a USB stick.
I ordered this item to fit a Samsung M2 ssd, but it doesn't work.
The size of the connector is too small, of course we're talking about 1 or 1.5 millimetres, but that's enough for the ssd not to fit into the connector.
Well, it is on its way back to Digitec as a failed unit. However, the board is badly made and the retaining screw hard to fit in the 80mm slot.
The M.2 is held upside down for some reason which may affect cooling - especially as it feels very hot.
Wasted a lot of time testing failed product to ensure the problem was the adapter and not the M.2 or lead - it was.
Pro
Contra
The description says "Allows external connection of M.2 SATA SSDs", but there is no mention that PCIE is explicitly not supported. Something like this belongs in the specs, especially since it is very clearly stated in the 'Installation Guide':
"Support M.2 SATA SSD only, not support PCIE SSD".
Unfortunately, the thing did not fulfil the purpose of making the internal SSD of the defective laptop accessible. I will install a SATA SSD on occasion and then use it as an external drive.
Contra
I have tried out various M2.SSDs, but unfortunately the pin arrangement is somewhat exotic for me. This needs to be clarified in advance.
Contra
Device is recognised, BUT::
Despite different SSD types, they are not displayed. A new device appears in the manager, but..... EMPTY.... I think the external 3.0 power supply is NOT sufficient...... Very disappointing, especially as I would have saved myself some work when switching -- small to large SSD-..... BAD ....aber, what is there alternatively ??? [PS: the DeLock part Sata-SSD failed as well...]
