I am actually very satisfied with the Fenix 5x. It is very well equipped. I wear the watch every day and it doesn't bother me when I sleep. The design could be better, but it is very robust. Whether swimming, jogging, biking, hiking or fitness, it lasts. If you record your activities every day for 1.5-2 hours, it lasts just under a week. Without recording, it lasts just under 2 weeks.
The Fenix 5x is much better than the Fenix 3HR. I've had all Fenix until now. more

Unreserved purchase recommendation

Me, 29y, currently 80kg at 194cm. About 4x 10-12km per week with about 5min/km.

The display is amazing, the brighter the environment, the more precise the display. Thanks to pixel memory, the watch permanently displays a wealth of data without consuming much power. As long as there is enough light, this display looks wonderfully sharp and in poor light it can be sufficiently backlit.

The battery is absolutely sufficient and lasts for 6-7 days if you run for 3-4 times for 1 hour.

Accuracy of the GPS or Glonass at smartphone level.

Top maps and navigation functions. The map knows practically all the paths in the Bremgarten and Könizberg forest where I walk. The map can also be zoomed and panned to display absolutely sufficient information for navigating during a run.

For recording running efficiency values, I recommend the HRM Run. Only with the chest strap can the very important values such as ground contact time, vertical ratio, stride length etc. be calculated. I have already been able to improve massively with these values. The HR measurement on the wrist is also not precise enough when running, considering how much influence the exact HR has on the numerous calculated statistics.

The range of functions is huge, there is something for every athlete and every display can be personalised down to the smallest detail. Statistics such as training status, lactate threshold recording, VO2max increases plus training effect recording in the Garminconnect app are both absolutely plausible and extremely motivating to achieve progress.

As far as the activity tracker functions are concerned, the watch is also an absolute top performer. HR is recorded 24 hours a day on the wrist, sleep phases are recorded in detail fully automatically (including REM phase), steps are counted plausibly. A body stress value is also recorded.

The operating concept, or rather the UI, is absolutely top notch despite, or perhaps because of, the lack of a touchscreen. You quickly get used to the buttons and the menus/functions are arranged sensibly. Personally, I find the operation via the buttons even more pleasant than via a small touchscreen, as I make far fewer incorrect entries this way.

As far as wearing comfort is concerned, I am thrilled. With the silicone wristband, you forget the watch, which seems quite large, on your wrist within seconds. The quick-fit wristband function is simply ingenious. It is important to bear in mind that the weight of the watch doubles with a metal strap, which is clearly noticeable in terms of wearing comfort.

In conclusion. The watch has given me an extreme motivation boost, which I consider priceless. Furthermore, despite massive negative reviews of the Connectapp in the Playstore, there are not the slightest synchronisation problems. The watch has become my personal fitness coach, which accompanies me constantly and ensures that I never lose my motivation. more
