Currently, Media Broadcast is planning further expansion of the transmitter network for the next few years in collaboration with the radio operators of the nationwide programs (Channel 5C). The regional public or private digital radio offerings are broadcasted through their own networks, which are unrelated to the reception situation of the nationwide broadcasters. Regional programs are tied to the federal states; for example, the programs of BR can only be heard in Bavaria. This is regulated by law. In border areas between federal states, it is naturally possible for programs from neighboring states to be received. Digital radio in Switzerland: DAB+ (T-DAB) is in its final expansion phase and includes national and regional ensembles offered by SRG, SwissMediaCast (SMC), Romandie Médias SA (RMS), and Limus-Digris. DAB+ is finally available for all of Austria. With the digital radio standard DAB+ and nationwide radio offerings in Austria, a white spot on the European radio map in the DACH region is being filled. It is planned to gradually put more broadcasting stations into operation between May 28, 2019, and September 2020, so that within the next two years, nearly 83% of the Austrian population will enjoy digital terrestrial radio with a variety of programming options.
