The Rollei AF 85mm F1.8 impresses above all with its modern features, very good workmanship, and decent quality at open aperture. In the center of the image, it delivers good sharpness even at F1.8, along with low vignetting and very low distortion. In contrast, the image quality towards the edges is less convincing, where the drop in resolution is comparatively high for a lightweight 85mm lens...

Rollei lenses for mirrorless system cameras are actually nothing new. Until now, however, the company has relied on a co-operation with the manufacturer Viltrox. With the AF 85 mm F/1.8, Rollei is now presenting its first own lens for system cameras. And this is only the beginning, as the new VAF series is to be expanded step by step in the future...

The new portrait focal length from Rollei produces images with a real character of their own and a high recognition value. The bokeh at open aperture is perfect without compromising on resolution. We are looking forward to this first addition to the family soon!
