Product details

Scientific sky telescopes are located on islands or in sparsely populated areas for a good reason. The ever-increasing light emission from cities and urban areas, also known as light smog or light pollution, significantly hampers the observation and photography of stars and other celestial objects. This unpleasant haze also disrupts regular night shots and city panoramas. DSLR and mirrorless camera photographers can now use the new Rollei Astroklar night light filter to reduce the effects of light pollution. The artificial light sources that contribute most to light pollution are sodium vapor lamps (light wavelength approximately 590 nm) and mercury vapor lamps (light wavelengths 545 nm and 580 nm). Among other wavelengths, these are blocked by the night light filters, allowing for captures of starry skies and night shots without a yellow tint—even in large cities and their surroundings.
