As usual, Samsung uses flash memory from its own factory for the 850s. In the benchmarks, the two versions hardly differ; the new one writes at 485 MByte/s, at most a tad slower. However, there are big differences in energy consumption: the new version consumes only 2.1 watts when reading, about 1.5 watts less...

The Samsung SSD 850 EVO is a 1 TB hard drive with very good data transfer values. Furthermore, it shows a very strong performance in practice, whereby the access times are also okay. The consumption values, on the other hand, could be somewhat lower, but the price-performance ratio is excellent.

Not only are the data rates of the SSD at a top level, but the 1 TB hard disk is also completely convincing in terms of the price per GB. However, the model lacks any accessories and the warranty period of only three years does not necessarily speak for the longevity of the storage. Nevertheless, this is a recommendation for those who are looking for a large storage device at a reasonable price.

With transfer rates well over 500 MB per second for reading and writing, the Samsung SSD 850 EVO is one of the fastest SSDs in the test. The access times are also convincing. In terms of available storage space, the hard drive even tops our best list with 1,024 GB.

The new SSD from Samsung is not cheap, but measured by its capacity and performance, not only the price-performance ratio is excellent, but also the price per GB. The memory achieves very good read and write rates and only the scope of delivery has to accept small compromises. Nevertheless, the model is also suitable for users who often need to access large amounts of data.
