In System M design, this device features an integrated bus coupling unit and a push-button with eight operating buttons, an operating and status display, and a text field. The operating indicator can also function as an orientation light. The respective functions of the buttons can be controlled with an IR remote control, with a Merten Distance IR remote control already pre-programmed into the push-button. Many other IR remote controls, such as those for existing TVs or CD players, can also be programmed into the push-button. The device connects to the bus line via a bus connection terminal.

KNX software functions include switching, toggling, dimming (one/two-surface), blinds (one/two-surface), edge triggers for 1, 2, 4, or 8-bit telegrams (differentiation between short/long actuation), and edges with 2-byte telegrams (differentiation between short/long actuation). It also features an 8-bit slider, scene recall, scene storage, and disabling functions.
