Sinus filters limit both the voltage rise time (du/dt) and the peak voltages at the motor winding. Similar to an output choke, they allow for the connection of longer motor cable lengths. Additionally, bearing currents are significantly reduced. Therefore, it is possible to operate standard motors with standard insulation and without insulated bearings with Sinamics. The voltage stress at the motor winding is thus nearly at the same level as in direct grid operation. Due to the very low voltage rise times on the motor cable, the sinus filter also has a positive effect on electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
